HOLLYWOOD’S First Day of 2021 in Pictures

ANTHONY ANDERSON RECEIVES THE 2,691st STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME

Actor, comedienne Anthony Anderson received the 2,691st    star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, August 14, 2020, in the first virtual award ceremony in the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s history.

Anderson’s celebrated this significant event with his family and friends one-day before his 50th birthday on August 15th, at the Hollywood Museum, located inside the historic Max Factor building, the make-up artist of the Golden Age of Hollywood. His star is located at 6780 Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

The day’s emcee was President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Rana Ghadban. Guest speakers were Doris Bowman, Anthony’s mother, a talented actress in her own right, and funny man and Walk of Famer, George Lopez, and Executive Brian Dobbins

Anthony is from the City of Compton, CA and s acting while attending performing arts classes at  Hollywood High School.  He has received 6 straight Emmy and two Golden Globes nominations for  Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Staying busy, Anthony stars in and executive produces  the ABC  hit show “black’ish”, its spin-offs “grown-ish” and mixed-ishis , and is the the host of another ABC show “To Tell The Truth”.  performed in Norman Lear’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience as George Jefferson in the “ All in the Family” segment.  He has received 15 Image Award nominations and has won six as Outstanding Action in a Comedy  Series.

In addition to conquering the small screen, Anderson has had much success in film too, beginning in 1999 role in “Life”. His memorable role in “Barbershop”, “My Baby’s Daddy”, “Me, Myself & Irene”, “Big Momma’s House”, “Kingdome Come”, King’s Ransom”, “Hustle & Flow”, “The Departed”, “Transformers”, “Small Time Crime”, and  “The Beats” to name a few.

What a great way to bring-in 50, receiving a well-deserved Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Lights, Camera, Action! Hollywood Productions Resume June 12, 2020

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Order of the Health Officer has released the REOPENING SAFER AT WORK AND IN THE COMMUNITY FOR CONTROL OF COVID-19.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has announced that the Music, film and television production can reopen during Stage 3 on Friday, June 12, 2020.  All productions prior to resuming must prepare, implement and post the required Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Reopening Protocol for Music, Film and Television Production.

There are five areas that all productions must address prior to reopening: Workplace policies and practices to protect employee health, Measures to ensure physical distancing, measures to ensure infection control, communication with employees and the public, measures to ensure equitable access to critical service.

Physical Distancing

They suggest any employee that can work from home, should do so. The workplace must provide all personal protective equipment (PPE), all visitors and employees must wear face covering.

All productions and recording sessions are required to have a written protocol before they can start work to ensure six (6) feet or more between people.  With only essential cast and crew on or near the set at any time. If cast and musicians are unable to wear face coverings must be a minimum of 8 feet of social distancing.  Whenever possible, workspaces are to have one directional traffic.  When riding the elevator, the capacity limit is based on the ability to maintain six (6) feet distance. They also suggest easing elevator traffic by opening stairwells for up and down traffic.

All shops shall be by appointment only to prevent lines forming.

Television and film productions are required to give periodic testing to cast and crew, especially those in high-rick scenes requiring close contact without masks.

Infection Control

Ventilation must be increased in all spaces. All contracts, music sheet, scripts and other documents must be distributed digitally or printed and given to everyone. Before and after filming and other sessions, all commonly touched areas must be disinfected at least three times a day. The entire facility must be cleaned daily i.e. sets, production spaces. Minor child actors can be accompanied by up to two adults. Payment portals, props, costumes, set materials, trucks and other vehicles must be disinfected after each use.

All Productions must provide a copy of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health protocol to every person that come on-set or enters the production facility.

The movie extra industry will suffer a major impact with productions being told to avoid large crowd scenes.

 

 

Craft services: people will only be able to eat and drink in a designated area. The cast and crew must eat and drink in production set area in staggered schedules.

Food buffets are not allowed as well as no communal food or drink services (no coffee pots). Food must be single serve only. People who bring in their own food cannot share their food.

The date, time and name of the crew currently in session must be recorded to assist in contact tracing when necessary.

Production locations must be completely secure from the public with enough space for everyone stay six (6) to social distance.

Hollywood and Its Response to the Murder of George Floyd and Social Justice

The Hollywood industry is responding to the murder of George Floyd and social injustice with commitments to civil and social justice organizations.

Some of the entertainment companies putting their money where their mouth is, are:

Universal Music Group commits $25 million Change Fund to advance social justice and racial equality with the new Task Force for Meaningful change (TFMC)

Comcast has a new 3-year $100 million to support social justice. $75 million for cash grants and $25 million in media across Comcast, NBC Universal, and Sky. The organizations to receive the cash grants are Community Justice Action Fund, Equal Justice Initiatives, the National Urban League, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored and the National Action Network.

Sony Music gives $100 million for social justice and anti-racism.

Michael Jordan and Jordan Brands commits $100 million over 10-years to support organizations that focus on racial equality, social justice and access to education. This is in addition to Nike’s four-year, 440 million to address racial inequality around the country and the Jordan Wings Program.

Target and the Target Foundation gives $10 million to support social justice and community rebuilding and recovery. They are also giving essential items like medicine, diapers, etc.

Kanye West gives $2 million to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. West has also set-up a 529 plan for the college education of Floyd’s daughter Gianna.

 

NPR Trailblazer Susan Stamberg Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Susan Stamberg Receives the 2,690th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
One of the Mothers of NPR, Susan Stamberg, who started with the public radio station in 1971, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. You can  find her star at 6363 Hollywood Boulevard
in front of DashRadio.
Susan was the first female to anchor a nightly news show and hosted 'All Things Considered' for 14-years and 'Weekend Edition Sunday.'
She is a Broadcast Hall of famer as well as Radio Hall of Fame. In addition, she has won the Armstrong, duPont and Edward R. Morrow Corporate Public Broadcast.
You can add author to her list of accomplishment. She has published two books, 'Books Talk: NPR's Susan Stamberg Considering All Things A Story of Her First 20 Years and Every Night at Five: Susan Stamberg's All Things Considered and cdo-edited 'The Wedding in the Middle of the Road by W.W. Norton.
Susan has always ben a strong advocate for woman and minorites.
Guest speaker were Walk of Famer Annette Bening and Stamberg's son Josh Stamberg.

 

Television Legends Sid and Marty Kroffts Receive Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Over 50 Years After H.R. Pufnstuf, Sid and Marty Kroffts Receive Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame

Television legends and brother team Sid and Marty Krofft received the well deserved 2,687th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.

Sid, 90 years young and his little brother, 82, Marty, began their television career with Hanna Barbera's The Banana Splits in 1968 and a year later began their over 50 years production career with H.R. Pufnstuf. Additional popular superheros stories include
The 70s The Bugaloos, 1971 Lidsville, 1973-75 Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, 1974-76 Land of the Lost, 1975 The Lost Saucer,
1976 Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, 1976-78 Wonderbug. They worked on the 1984 Pryor's Place starring funny man Richard Pryor and D.C. Follies, puppets with an over the stop take on politics.

Sid and H.R. Pufnstuff

The brothers have been honoroed with an Emmy Award: Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 anda TV Land Award: Pop Culture Award and their first award in
2002 with the Saturn Award: Life Career Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films

Guest speakers include Maureen McCormick, Susan Olsen and Christopher Knight from The Brady Brunch, Beverly D'Angelo and Greg Garcia.

Hollywood Golden Age Screen Legend Kirk Douglas Has Died at 103 years-young

One of the last Actor of Hollywood Golden Age, Kirk Douglas has died.

Douglas made his acting debut in the 1946 film ‘The Strange Love of Martha Ivers starring Barbara Stanwyck.
He went on to appear in more than 90 films. He received his first Best Actor nomination for the 1949 ‘Champion.’ Three years later he received his second Academy Award nomination for 1952 ‘The Bad and the Beautiful.’

He was one of the first actors to break his studio contracts and formed an independant production company, Bryna Productions, names after his mother, that produced ‘Path of Glory’ in 1957 and his still talked about performance
in 1960 ‘Spartacus.’ Other films include ‘The Indian Fighter’, ‘Paths of Glory’, ‘The Viking’, ‘Lonely are the Brave’, and ‘Seven Days in May.;

In addition to acting, Douglas is also an author beginning with his first book in 1988 autobigraphy The Ragman’s Son to his las book Life Could Be Verse: Reflactions of Love, Loss, and What Really Matters.

In 1981 President Jimmy Carter presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. 1991 AFI Life Achievement Award, 1994 receipient of the Kennedy Center Honors. 1998 Screen Actor Guilds Lifetime Achievement Award. 2002 President Bush gives him the National Medal of Arts.

His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located at 6263 Hollywood Blvd.

During the 40s and 50s he appeared on radio Suspense, Screen Directors Playhouse, and Lux Radio Theatre.

He gave his last feature film performance Michael Gorjian’s 2004 ‘Illusion.’ His final television appearance was im the 2008 release ‘Empire State Building Murders.’ His final curtain call was his autobiographical theatre performance in his one-man show ‘Before I Forget’

Together they had two sons, Peter born in 1955 and Eric, born in 1958 and later to succumb to addition in 2004. With his first wife, Diana Dill ,  the mother of Michael and Joel Douglas.

Curtis “50 CENT” Jackson Receives the 2,686th Star On the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Grammy winner, entrepreneur, actor, producer Curtis "50 Cent" James Jackson, III, recieved the 2686th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. His star is located at 6250 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the W Hotel.

The star ceremony was hosted by Rana Ghadban, the president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The guest speakers included Managing Director, Legendary Global Chris Albrecht and Slim Shady and rapper Eminem.

50 cent received his star in the recording category.

With the success he has had in music with his East Coast hip hop group G-Unit and later his own label, G-Unit Records in 2003. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has won a Grammy Award, 13 Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards,, three American Music Awards and four BET Awards.
50 Cent  pursued acting with  his emi-autobiographical film "Get Rich or Die Tryin", "Home of the Brave", "Righteous Kill", h   "Southpaw" and "Spy".    Television success with G-Unit Films and Television Inc., with the highly rated show "Power". 50cent will sure to be back on Hollywood Boulved receives stars in the film and television categories.
The man certainly has style and established G-Unit Clothing Company in 2003 He established publishing company G-Unit Books in 2007.
Stars were out to support 50 Cent. In the audience was his power co-stars LaLa Anthony and Joseph Sikora, Dr Dre, who produced his first album Get Rich or Die Tryin', comedian Michael Blackson, Top Dawg of TDE and many more.

Universal Music Group Chairman Sir Lucian Grainge Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Universal Music Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sir Lucian Grainge receives the 2,685th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame that located in front of the historic Capitol Records building.

Take That, Psychedelic Furs, Eurhythmics, Andrea Bocelli, James Cullum, as well as Drake, Post Malone, Katy Perry and Maroon 5. With the acquisition of Bravado, it brought Justin Bieber and Kayne West into the Universal family.

The stars were out in force in support of Grainge. There to speak in his honor was Shawn Mendez and Lionel Ritchie, giving you the new and old school recording artists.

There was a star studded audience with Justin Bieber, Birdman, Sam Smith, Tori Kelly, and   Kailee Steinfeld

Grainge is the only person to have the honor of being the Billboard's "Power 100 List" most powerful person in the music industry in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2019, which speaks volumes considering the many people in the music business.
