The third annual NFL Career Tour is a 3-day event that took place on March 4, 5 and 6, 2025, at Hidden Empire Film Group in Santa Monica, CA.

The NFL’s Player Engagement team created the ‘NFL Career Tour’ to provide football legends and those still in the league the opportunity to learn first-hand about filmmaking and meet leaders in the film industry.

Participating on behalf of the NFL was Tracy Perlman, Senior Vice President of Player Operations; Hidden Empire are Co-CEOs Deon Taylor and Roxanne Taylor, Omar Joseph, President, and Ephraim Salaam HESC’s President of Talent Strategy and Creative Executive.

The final day of the program included the completion of a short film created by the athletes that put into practice the knowledge they learned about directing, cinematography, producing, and acting, the art of filmmaking.

I had opportunity to sit down and talk with a few of the NFL players and legends. Read below!

Brennan Scarlett1a

Brennan was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, He is a graduate of Central Catholic High, where he was a lettered athlete in football, track and field and swimming He attended California Berkely, played on the football team, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business. He transferred to Stanford University, where he also played on the football and graduated with a master’s in science management, engineering. He played 7 years in the league. 5 years with the Houston Texans and 2 years with the Miami Dolphins. Brennan retired in 2024.

Yevette Renee: With your educational background, have you considered producing, financing fundraising for film production?

Brennan Scarlett: That is a good question. I like all of it. I like the business part. How the money gets made. I want to know who is buying what and who is selling what. I see creativity in all of it. The business is very creative. You make a movie. You create a scene. You paint a picture. It is all creative.

Yevette Renee: Do you think having an interest in filmmaking as whole will help you as you grow in the film industry?

Brennan Scarlett: I think it should help. They mentioned that today, a director took acting classes so he would know how to communicate with actors and his next job was working with DeNiro.

A Conversation with Reginald Kahlil McKenzie, Jr,

Exif_JPEG_420

Reginald graduated from Clayton Valley Charter High School, Concord, CA. and is a former #1 rated high school football player in the country. He played college football at his father’s (32 years in the NFL) and uncle’s (two Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins) alma mater, University of Tennessee, as a Defensive lineman. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 and played five seasons, including with the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

Yevette Renee: What advice would you give a young college student interested in becoming a sports agent?

Reginald shared that after retirement, how he looked into what the NFL had to offer its player. And if you are willing to work and learn there are many things that they offered that can be applied to the player lives. And how great it is what the NFL is doing for its player.

A Conversation with Troy Pride, jr.

Troy graduated from Greer High School, in Greer, South Carolina. He attended Notre Dame where he excelled in football and track as a sprinter. Pride was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and is a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys.

Yevette Renee: Who is your favorite director?

Troy Pride: Jordan Peele, right now. He took the world by storm with ‘Get Out.” Especially, because it was a horror film. As an actor, Denzel Washington introduced me to film. It was watching him in ‘Luther’ that got me interested.

Yevette Renee: Jordan Peele’s work reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock, what are your thoughts?

Troy Pride: it is an iteration of Alfred Hitchcock He has that other world, very disturbing and that is just what he did with Get Out.

Yevette Renee: What advice would you give a college student interested in sports and entertainment?

Troy Pride:
First, I would give the advice to be yourself. Do not worry about what other people are doing on social media. Being yourself is when you will find your true passion.

Yevette Renee: Beginning with football until now, what is the most important things you have learned on your journey?

Troy Pride: Perseverance. I tore my ACL in my second year, and it is an 80% career ending injury for most players. I learned how resilient I was.

LindsayLuvzU Productions Announces Debut Screening of “Maharlika Warrior Spirit” at the Pan African Film Festival

MAHARLIKA 5X7 FLYER PAFF BOTH DATES

Los Angeles, CA - LindsayLuvzU Productions is thrilled to announce the nomination and screening of its most recent film, "Maharlika Warrior Spirit," at the prestigious Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF). The film will debut on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM, and a second screening will follow on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 3:40 PM. These screenings will take place in Los Angeles at the Cinemark Baldwin Hills & XD Movie Theater, located at 4020 Marlton Ave.

"Maharlika Warrior Spirit" is an anti-sex trafficking movie that is set to ignite a movement disguised as a film. This multi-channel production transcends traditional storytelling by using film, music, documentaries, and live events to raise awareness about the sensitive and often overlooked issue of sex trafficking. The story follows Tala, a defense attorney with a strong moral compass, who is forced to confront the ineffectiveness of the law when her best friend becomes a victim of sex trafficking. Embarking on a journey of self-discovery, she awakens to her ancient warrior spirit.

At its very core, the movie is not only a call to action but also a beacon of hope for victims and a rallying cry for societal change. With the movie’s official release, LindsayLuvzU Productions is leading the charge with a vision that differs from its contemporaries, embodying the spirit of innovation akin to the work of Spike Lee.

"LindsayLuvzU Productions stands at the intersection of activism and entertainment, and with 'Maharlika Warrior Spirit,' we aim to not just tell a story, but to spur a cultural metamorphosis," says Lindsay Castillo, founder, and CEO of LindsayLuvzU Productions. "It's time to shine a light on the darkness of sex trafficking, and we are committed to empowering women and inspiring audiences to take action."

The film is part of a larger endeavor by the company, including the documentary, "Traffik ‘n’ Sex, An Anti-Sex Trafficking Movement," which provides a grounded perspective of trafficking through the eyes of survivors. Additionally, the world’s first anti-sex trafficking concept album, "Traffik ‘n’ Sex," is set to engage fans and raise awareness through music.

It is also important to note that LindsayLuvzU Productions' unique approach extends beyond the screen, with the establishment of "Traffik n’ Sex," a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting victims of sex trafficking by connecting safe-houses nationwide and encouraging public discourse on the issue.

For more information about "Maharlika Warrior Spirit" and the non-profit organization, please visit https://maharlikaminiseries.com/.

A place to be together.  Safe.  Happy.  Free.

About the Film: Karen Carpenter was the first in a long line of celebrities to suffer from an eating disorder during an era when the vastly misunderstood disease brought shame and public humiliation. For the first time, we hear Karen Carpenter's personal struggle in her own voice through never-before released recordings and through the legendary voices of those who knew her and were inspired by her music. As the #1 American musical act of the 1970s, the Carpenters were on “top of the world," producing a string of pop masterpieces, including "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Rainy Days and Mondays." But behind closed doors, Karen's quest for perfection resulted in low self-esteem, a disheartening love life, and a public battle with anorexia nervosa, which ended with her untimely death at the age of only 32. Forty years after her death comes “Karen Carpenter: Starving For Perfection,” a captivating, revealing, and unvarnished documentary providing astounding new insight into the singer's tragically short life and enduring musical legacy.

“Starring Jerry As Himself” (Feature Film Docu-Fiction Hybrid)
REEL LIVES Selection (SBIFF)

Recently having won the Slamdance Film Festival Grand Jury Documentary Feature, Audience Award Documentary & Acting Award for Jerry Hsu with sold out screenings and standing ovations, “Starring Jerry As Himself” is a docu-fiction hybrid that blurs the lines of reality while staying true to Jerry Hsu, the title subject and his unique story. Jerry  is the father everyone wants to have as their own, and his journey is one that rivals that of Alice following the white rabbit into another world. Employing a variety of creative filmmaking techniques to capture the world from Jerry’s perspective, the film is a genre bending meta experience as Jerry deals with a wild tale of international intrigue in which he inexplicably finds himself a lynchpin with his family none the wiser...or has he?
