Liz Here Now is a period drama set in 1967 Oakland, California - an epicenter of America's social and racial justice awakening. To the outside world, the Connor family is the picture of the American dream - a prominent doctor, his elegant wife, two young children and an exclusive hillside home.
But when Elizabeth "Liz" Baxter - the Connor's Black housekeeper - discovers the children are being abused in the home, the actions Liz takes sets her desire to help children on a collision course with her own lack of agency, injustice and the racial strife of late 1960s Oakland. As the Connor children's situation becomes more dangerous and Liz more anguished, Liz makes a desperate choice that ultimately embroils her in an alleged Black Panther Party conspiracy.
Inspired by a true story, Liz Here Now is a raw portrait of childhood survival, racial injustice, and extraordinary courage.
